Three-time Grammy-nominated Afro-Caribbean group Tiempo Libre are seven classically-trained musicians internationally renown for their critically acclaimed, dance-inducing, Latin-fused music.
Celebrated for its tropical music featuring an irresistible, exhilarating mix of jazz harmonies, contemporary sonorities and seductive Latin rhythms, throughout the past 14 years the three-time Grammy-nominated band has appeared on The Tonight Show as well as Live from Lincoln Center, Dancing with the Stars and virtually every entertainment program on Univision and Telemundo.
Tiempo Libre frequently collaborates with many icons of the classical world. The band recorded Gómez’ “Para Tí,” with violin virtuoso Joshua Bell for his album, At Home with Friends. Gloria Estefan, Bell and Tiempo Libre performed Gómez’ arrangement of “Christmas Auld Lang Syne” on Bell’s Musical Gifts from Joshua Bell and Friends album.. The group was handpicked by the legendary flautist, Sir James Galway to perform on his album O’Reilly Street, featuring an exciting Latin jazz arrangement of the Claude Bolling Jazz Suites. They have also performed with leading orchestras including the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Houston, Charlotte, and San Francisco Symphonies.
Tiempo Libre is Jorge Gómez (pianist and musical director), Luis Beltran Castillo (flute and sax), Raul Rodriguez (trumpet), Xavier Mili (lead vocal), Wilvi Rodriguez (bass), Israel Figueroa (drums), and Leandro Gonzalez (congas).
