Los Herederos is a collective of Cuban and Cuban-Americans musicians and dancers living in Miami. They represent the African heritage and transculturation experienced in the making of Cuban music, through the performance of a diversity of musical genres like Rumba, Guaguanco, Columbia and Timba, among others. Despite being a young band, Los Herederos has been considered among the best representatives of the Afro-Cuban traditions outside the Island, due to the talent, vitality and maturity of their performances. They think they have a musical mission of transmitting the best of the Afro-Cuban tradition and culture to the highest level of musical and bodily expression, throughout a permanent process of enrichment and updating informed by their migrant experiences and their constant collaboration with other musicians throughout the world.
Los Herederos is conducted by the versatile Philbert Armenteros. Borned in Havana, Armenteros is a musician with an extraordinary talent. He is not only a singer and drummer in Afro-Cuban religious ceremonies, but in addition he is also a composer, producer and dancer. Armenteros is one of the most acclaimed artists in the Cuban music scene in the U.S., with a prolific career that has taken him throughout the world. In addition to his work as director of Los Herederos, Philbert has regularly participated in music productions and has performed with musicians like Arturo Sandoval, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Ignacio Berroa, Felipe Lamoglia, Román Díaz, Pedro Martínez, Palo!, Cubiche, Descemer Bueno, Nag Champayon, Tropicasa, Tego Calderón, Orishas, Michel Fragoso, El Chino DreadLion & Elain Morales, among others.
This time, Philbert Armenteros & Los Herederos will initiate what could become a new cultural option in the Miami cultural scene: Los Domingos de la Rumba. This event intends to preserve and continue the tradition of Sabados de la Rumba from Havana. They will put together a show for the whole family to enjoy. In the first part, Los Herederos will perform kind a didactic show about the main music genres, dances and wardrobe from the Yoruba pantheon. Then they will move to the Rumba format, with the participation of special guests. The audiences will also have the option of enjoying other activities, like esoteric sessions and sales, Caldosa tasting, among others. Hope to see you there…
